The 90s TV Shows

Duck Tales

Duck Tales is an American cartoon series produced by Disney Television Animation. It premiered in 1987 and ended with 100 episodes in 1990. It also spawned a spinoff movie: Duck Tales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. The series was based on the comic books created by Carl Barks, but also drew inspiration from pop culture, Greek Mythology, James Bond, Indiana Jones, and even Shakespeare.

The series follows the tales of Scrooge McDuck, the richest duck in the world, and his three grandnephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. The famous Donald Duck also makes some appearances on the show. The antagonists on the show include the Beagle Boys, an industrialist Flintheart Glomgold, and a witch Magica De Spell.

The biggest theme in these adventures is money, with the the Beagle Boys and Magica De Spell usually trying to somehow get a hold of Scrooge’s wealth, or beat him in a race to a treasure not yet discovered. Flintheart Glomgold is always trying to overtake Scrooge in the wealth department because he is the second richest duck in the world.

Another big part of the series is Scrooge’s “Number One Dime“, which is the first money he earned after immigrating to America from Scotland. It is said to be where he gets all his luck from and the evildoers try to steal this many times as well.

Like all Disney cartoons, this product was merchandised heavily, coming out with video games, lunchboxes, toys, clothing, even an app came out in 2013 entitled “Scrooge’s Loot”. So obviously, these ducks lived through the 90s and are still relevant today.
