Fight Club

Fight Club is an American film starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. The film was released in 1999, based on the novel written by Chuck Palahniuk. Norton, an unhappy, stressed out insomniac, meets a man, Tyler Durden, on one of his business trips. Tyler is a soap salesman, who eventually helps Norton when he has nowhere to go.

After having a few fights themselves, they decide to make a business out of it and create an actual fight club in a local bar’s basement. As the members steadily increase, they begin to face more problems. Tyler begins stealing human fat from a liposuction clinic, claiming it makes the best soap. Particles from the human fat can be combined with water to create a very painful chemical burn.

The fight clubs soon begin to take over, with locations all over the country. The clubs become known as ‘Project Mayhem’ and take a turn for the worst. Mayhem breaks out, causing vandalism and even deaths. After trying to find a missing Tyler, the narrator comes to realization that he may have multiple personality disorder. He realizes that Tyler and himself share the same body.

When he realizes Tyler is using the soap chemicals to make explosives to destroy buildings, he tries to stop it. The narrator is held at gunpoint by Tyler, who is forcing him to watch the building collapse. Fight Club won many awards from best sound editing to best fight. Fight Club intrigued audiences all around the country in the 90’s due to its originality and innovation.
