Food & Drink The 90s

Fruitopia

Fruitopia is a fruit-flavored drink created by The Coca-Cola Company in 1994.

Fruitopia was created in response to the success of Snapple and other fruit flavored tea drinks. The drink’s launch and hype were highly successful thanks in part to the odd marketing campaign featuring colorful kaleidoscope patterns and poetry.

The drink also sold well amongst teens and young adults as it was often sold in schools and college campuses. However several flavors were remade and named in order to appeal more to the Generation X crowd.

Despite the initial success, Fruitopia eventually fizzled out in the U.S. and has since been revamped under Coca-Cola’s Minute Maid brand. However, the drink can still be found in countries such as Canada and Australia.
