Home Alone

Home Alone is a Christmas film that was released in 1990. The movie is based around Kevin McCallister, an eight year old, played by Macaulay Culkin. The McCallister family had plans to travel from Illinois to Paris for the Christmas holiday. After losing power, the family is in a state of chaos in the morning, fearing they are going to miss their flights.

With all of the commotion going on, no one in the family realized that Kevin was left behind until they are in route to Paris. Once in Paris, Kevin’s mom and dad try to book a flight home. Since it is the holiday season though, the flights are all booked for a few days. Fear soon sets in for Kevin when he realizes his home is next target for the neighborhood burglars, Harry and Marv.

Kevin tries to make the burglars believe that the family is still in the house. In the meantime, Kevin’s mom finally gets a flight from Paris to Pennsylvania. Once in Pennsylvania with no flights available, she is offered a ride by a traveling polka band that is going to Chicago as well.

After hearing the burglars confirm that they are going to come to his house that night, Kevin goes home to set up multiple traps to catch them. Harry and Marv walked right into the traps, injuring themselves repeatedly along the way. Kevin manages to call the police and Harry and Marv get arrested.

Home Alone was a huge success. The franchise included four more movies and three video games. The movie grossed over $477 million worldwide throughout its run in theaters. The following movies include Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Home Alone 3 and Home Alone 4.
