Music The 90s

LFO

LFO is an American pop/rap group made up of three members: Rich Cronin, Devin Lima, and Brad Fischetti. Before Lima joined the group, the original third was Brian Gillis who was with the group when it was formed in 1995.

From 1995-1998, the band was not experiencing much success, so Gillis left for a solo career, mainly doing college tours. That’s when Lima joined and decided it was his idea to change the name from “Lyte Funky Ones” and instead call themselves LFO.

The song that blew LFO up was their single “Summer Girls“. It made its way all the way to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 1 on the Billboard single sales chart. Their debut album was self-titled, LFO, and sold over 2.5 million copies. It produced another top 10 Billboard Top 100, “Girl on TV“.

In 2001, they released their second and final album, Life is Good. It released only two singles and it’s sales numbers died with the group and music’s boy band phase in the early 2000s.
