Mad About You was a sitcom centered around a newly married couple living in New York City. The show stared Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt and ran from 1992 through 1999.
Mad About You followed the lives of newlyweds Jamie Stemple Buchman, a public relations specialist, and Paul Buchman, a film maker specializing in documentaries. Throughout the series we would see them in humorous situations and actual struggles that couples find themselves in.
In addition to Paul and Jamie, the series would feature the couples interactions with their parents, siblings, co-workers, friends, neighbors, and even their therapist. Their dog Murray, a stubborn but laid back collie mix, also played heavily in the show’s cast of characters.
The show also featured a large assortment of special guest stars. Sports stars Andre Agassi, Mark McGuire, and Patrick Ewing all appeared on the show. Seinfeld stars Jerry Seinfeld and Michael Richards also appeared on the show in an NBC crossover of sorts. Even politicians Al Gore and Rudy Giuliani made cameos.
Mad About You was generally well received by critics, and was nominated for numerous awards throughout out it’s run. Helen Hunt would win the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a comedy series for four straight years.
