Mario Kart 64

Mario Kart 64 was a popular racing game for the Nintendo 64 console released in 1997. It featured all of Mario’s little friends driving their hearts out on a track made of dreams. Moms still love it!

Mario Kart 64 is the second game in the Mario Kart series after Super Mario Kart released for the SNES in 1992. It was much more popular than its predecessor, garnering such praise as “radical” and “tubular” from young players the world over. in 1998 Mark Smith, a bright eyed 8 year old from Wisconsin, even famously stated “Mario is like my daddy, cause of the mustache”. Since Mark has recanted the endorsement for Mario to replace his father, adding that he was “drunk as a sailor at port” at the time and that he would “do anything if it would bring [his] dad back.”

Mario Kart 64 featured four game modes: Grand Prix, Time Trial, Versus, and Battle Mode. Each variation had a different set of objectives, but all of them required Mario to stay inside of his vehicle. Should Mario have left the vehicle his custody would have been revoked and Peach would get the kids all to herself, even though she’s clearly a drunk and needs help.
