Food & Drink The 90s

Orbitz

Orbitz was a lightly sweetened fruit drink that first appeared in 1997. Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation produced the drink. It was a non-carbonated drink with small, edible and tasteless balls floating inside.

The balls floating inside were able to do this because the drink had the ingredient gellan gum, which is a gelling agent. Some people were weary of this drink with added texture, some even saying it resembled lava lamps and bubble tea.

The drink did not last long due to poor sales. Orbitz bottles have become collector’s items now, due to the rarity of the product. Orbitz drinks were available in five flavors.

Flavors
Raspberry Citrus
Blueberry Melon Strawberry
Pineapple Banana Cherry Coconut
Vanilla Orange
Black Currant Barry
