She is told of this info from her 600-year old aunts, Hilda and Zelda, who are also witches. She also lives with her aunts and talking cat, Salem, in their Westbridge, Massachusetts home.

Through the course of the series, Sabrina must learn how to live a normal teenage life while being a powerful witch. She spends much of her time discovering her powers, spending time with her boyfriend and friends, and dealing with her stuck-up nemesis Libby. At the same time she must deal with the always-suspicious vice principal, Mr. Kraft. Sabrina is also tested by they witch quizmaster who determines if she may receive her witches license.

At the beginning of season 5, Sabrina moves out of her aunts house and leaves for college where she lives in an apartment with 3 roommates. In an effort to stay close to their niece, Hilda buys a coffee shop near campus and Zelda becomes a professor at the university.
