Star Trek: The Next Generation was a popular and extremely successful series sci-fi TV series that focused on a space crew and the starship Enterprise’s voyages. The series was created by Gene Rodenberry and aired from 1987 to 1994.

Star Trek: The Next Generation takes place 70 years after James T. Kirk and company’s original Enterprise mission. With the federation changing, a new crew is assembled to explore and seek out new life around the deepest corners of the universe.

The Enterprise in now commanded by Jean-Luc-Picard with William Riker as first officer commander, Data as the operations manager, Tasha Yar as the security chief, Deanna Troi as the ship counselor, Dr. Beverly Crusher as the chief medical officer, Geordi La Forge as officer lieutenant, and the Klingon Worf as junior officer lieutenant.

The storyline of the series focuses on the ships quest to discover and create relations ships with alien lifeforms. Of course the show would also largely focus on the crew itself as well. Through the series the Enterprise and her crew would often have to deal with the Ferengi, the Cardassians, the Borg, the Romulans, and the mysterious Q.

Star Trek: The Next Generation has since become one of the most popular science-fiction shows off all-time, creating an entirely new breed of “Trekkie” fans. During it’s 7 season, the show was consistently one of the highest rated shows on air and received a a total of 18 Emmy nominations.
