Tatyana Ali is an American actress and R&B singer. She is best know for her childhood role as Ashley Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, an NBC sitcom.
Most recently, Tatyana Ali has starred in Love That Girl! and as Roxanne on the soap opera, The Young and the Restless.
Tatyana Ali began her acting career at the age of six. Her first role was in 1985 and she was a regular child performer on Sesame Street. But her big break was landing the role of Ashley Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1990.
Ali focused on her acting career but after the final season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ali began developing her music career. Her 1998 album, Kiss The Sky, hit gold in 1998 and the hit song “Daydreamin'” peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the UK Singles Charts.
Ali attended Harvard University and received a bachelor’s degree in African-American studies and government in 2002. She traveled around the United States as a spokesperson for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and traveled to college campuses to head voter registration drives.
