Jerry Springer

Jerry Springer is an English/American politician, news anchor, musician, and television presenter. While he has assumed the role of many different occupations in his lifetime he is only famously associated with being the host of The Jerry Springer Show.

Jerry Springer was born in a fallout shelter in England on February 13th, 1944. In 1949 his parents moved to Queens, New York where he was raised and educated. Mr. Springer showed an interest in politics and law, and eventually became a political adviser to Robert F. Kennedy. After Robert’s assassination he abandoned the line of work and joined a law firm in Cincinnati.

Later in his life he would become mayor of Cincinnati, and run for governor of Ohio, despite being caught rendering the services of a sex worker. He even used the scandal in his campaign as proof of his honest nature.

The Jerry Springer Show started as a political talk show in 1991. However, in response to poor ratings, the nature of the show was revamped in 1994 to become sensational, like the television equivalent to a tabloid newspaper. The Jerry Springer Show became famous for its wild, confrontational interviews and the spontaneous fights that would break out on stage.

Jerry Springer is only seen as a “presenter” on the show instead of a host, because for the most part he lets his guests speak to each other, only popping in to add to the discussion or to bring in another guest.
