Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is a movie star who was huge in the 90s and continues to entertain audiences with his acting today.

Jim Carrey was born in Ontario, Canada in 1962. He obtained US citizenship in 2004. His parents came upon hard times financially and the grave situation eventually forced the young Carrey to drop out of school and support his family. While he never finished high school, Carrey found success as a stand up comedian with his impersonations until he was eventually discovered by touring celebrity, Rodney Dangerfield. Dangerfield let Carrey open for him on tour and eventually took him to Las Vegas where his career as an entertainer began.

Jim Carrey moved to Los Angeles continuing his work as a stand up. At the same time, around 1980, he took up acting, landing small roles for almost a decade. After meeting Damon Wayans on the set of Earth Girls are Easy, Mr. Carrey found a gig on the variety show In Living Color in 1990. His time on the show lasted three years until he quit to pursue work in feature films.

Almost instantly, Jim Carrey became famous. In 1994 alone he starred in 3 blockbuster hits, The Mask, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and Dumb and Dumber. He has been an A-list star ever since.
