Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet is a British actress best known for her work in Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Known for her provocative and empowering roles, Kate Winslet is one of the finest actresses we have. With her dedicated performances and wide range, her resume runs the gamut from comedy to drama to tragedy.

Her parents, Roger Winslet and Sally Bridges, were both stage actors and profoundly influenced Winslet’s life choices. She starred in her first professional role at age 11, and she made her first entry into stardom with her role as an obsessive adolescent in Heavenly Creatures, a 90s cult favorite. After this movie, she took a bunch of classic roles, starring in both Sense and Sensibility and Hamlet on film. Perhaps her most famous role from this period of time was 1997’s Titanic. Pretty much everyone in America cried over her doomed love affair with Jack (played by Leonardo DiCaprio).

Turned off by the media storm surrounding the movie, Kate Winslet retreated into more independent roles, not only bolstering her talent, but pushing her limits. She returned to the limelight with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. She followed the success of that movie with equally successful performances in Finding Neverland and Little Children. It was her role as a German SS Officer in 2008’s The Reader that won her an Academy Award for Best Actress, further cementing her place as one of the best actors of her generation.
