The Powerpuff Girls is an animated television series created by Craig McCracken and produced by Cartoon Network. They were first introduced in a cartoon showcase called World Premiere Toons in 1995, but made their official debut November 18, 1998, with their last episode airing March 25, 2005. The show is focused around three little girls, Blossom, Bubble, and Buttercup who all have superpowers. They were created in a laboratory by their "father," Professor Utonium, while he was trying to create three perfect little girls by combing "sugar, spice and everything nice". By accident, he spilled a substance called "Chemical X" into the mix, and his little superheroes were born. A typical episode involves the girls battling some evildoer or monster that is trying to destroy their fictional city of Townsville. In addition, the girls go through normal childhood problems like sibling rivalries, loose teeth, bed wetting, etc. The show has been nominated for 9 Annie Awards and won 2, 6 Primetime Emmy Awards and won 2, and 1 Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Cartoon. The show also spawned a movie: The Powerpuff Girls Movie.
