Talkback Dear Diary

Talkback Dear Diary was an electronic diary that was targeted towards young girls. The diary could instantly record and playback your voice. You could say whatever you wanted and it would play back. The voice recognition diary was used to protect a person’s secrets from other people.

There were many different functions including, a daily diary, phone numbers, shopping list, calculator, horoscope, homework, secrets and much more. The diary had a keyboard with a screen above it so you could see what you were typing. It would also repeat back to you what you say to it.

The Talkback Dear Diary was created in response to the Talkboy. The Talkboy was a cassette player and voice recorder. It was made famous as a prop used in the hit movie series, Home Alone in 1992.

The Talkback Dear Diary was one of the first electronic diaries that were sold in the 1990’s. Many imitations were created shortly after. They became such a hit because they were password protected, so the users secrets were safe!
