Toni Braxton

Toni Braxton is one of the most recognized female artists in R&B music.  She has won several awards, including six Grammy Awards and has sold over 40 million records.  In the 1980’s she began her career with her sisters in a group called, The Braxtons. Toni eventually began her solo career in 1993, releasing a self-titled album.  Her first album was a success, containing many number one hits and receiving multiple awards.

Toni’s second album, Secrets, was released in 1996 and sold 13 million copies.  This album contained one of her most recognized and successful songs, Unbreak My Heart.  By this time, Toni had sold over 20 million records with just two albums.  During this time, Toni was facing financial hardships.  She filed for bankruptcy and began a lawsuit against LaFace Records.

In 1998, she began performing on Broadway in two plays – ‘Beauty and the Beast’, playing the role of Belle and also in ‘Aida’. During this time the lawsuit was settled, and she was able to record her next album, The Heat.  In 2000, Toni released one of her most famous singles – ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’.

From 2006 to 2008 Toni headlined a show in Las Vegas at the Flamingo Hotel, ‘Toni Braxton Revealed’.  The show became a huge success in a short period of time.  Unfortunately, she was forced to stop due to complications with her health.

Toni currently stars in WE’s flagship reality show – Braxton Family Values and just released a new album with Babyface, ‘Love, Marriage & Divorce’.  Toni Braxton’s career has had many ups and downs, but one thing is for sure – her music and talent has made her an icon all around the world.
