Toy Story

Toy Story is a 1995 animated film directed by John Lasseter and starring Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. Not only was Toy Story the first feature-length film produced by Pixar, but it was also the first feature-length computer-animated film. The top-grossing film on its opening weekend, Toy Story earned $361 million worldwide. Reviews of the film were 100% positive, with critics and moviegoers praising both the film’s innovation and warm wit.

Andy, a young boy, loves playing with his toys. While he loves all of them, he pays special attention to Woody, a pull-string cowboy figurine he calls his “best friend”. But when Andy gets Buzz Lightyear, a brand-new astronaut toy, for his birthday, Woody feels threatened. Andy spends all of his time playing with Buzz and neglects Woody. Unlike the other toys, Buzz Lightyear believes he’s a real space ranger, sent on a mission to investigate a new planet. Woody spends most of the movie trying to convince Buzz that isn’t the case.

Things take a big turn when the toys find out Andy’s family is moving to a new home. They begin to prepare themselves for moving day and wonder what it will be like when they arrive at their new home. However, a new life in a new home is threatened when, through a series of mishaps, Buzz and Woody are separated from the other toys. They are grabbed by Sid, Andy’s neighbor who has a terrible reputation for mutilating his toys. Up until this point, Buzz and Woody haven’t been getting along, but, through team work, the two learn to respect each other and eventually escape Sid’s house, making it just in time for the big move to the new house.
