Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford is an American model and entrepreneur born in DeKalb, Illinois in 1966.  She was discovered by a newspaper photographer at the age of 16 during a summer job; soon after that she was signed to Elite Model Management by age 17. In 1984 she graduated as valedictorian from DeKalb High school before being offered a scholarship to Northwestern University to study chemical engineering. Crawford decided to pursue a career as a full time model dropping out of Northwestern University after only one quarter and signing to Elite New York in 1986.

During the 1990’s Cindy Crawford was part of an exclusive group of some of the most popular models in the world. She became the face of many fashion campaigns, some of the more notable ones being: Gianni Versace, Escada, Revlon, Omega, Maybelline, Clairol, and Ripley. She graced the covers of  fashion magazines: Vogue, People, W, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Allure, and the short lived George. Between the 1980 and 1990’s she had over 400 appearances between advertisements, contracts, and press.

In 1995 she transitioned into a modestly successful hosting and acting career. Hosting MTV’s House of Style for 5 seasons and starring in the poorly reviewed flop Fair Game opposite William Baldwin. In 1988 she made her first appearance in a nude pictorial for Playboy magazine photographed by Herb Ritts. Ritts would later shoot Crawford for the second feature in the magazine in 1998.

Currently Cindy Crawford has become a beauty entrepreneur launching her own line of successful skin products named “Meaningful Beauty”. Crawford also has her own line of home bedding and home furniture called “Cindy Crawford Home”. She resides in California with her husband successful entrepreneur Randy Gerber with whom she was two children.
