The 90s TV Shows

Real Monsters

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters is an animated television series that aired on Nickelodeon from October 30, 1994 to December 7, 1997. The series, developed by Klasky Csupo, was based on adolescent monsters in training.

The show, took place in New York City, and focused on three young monsters,Ickis (Charlie Adler), Oblina (Christine Cavanaugh) and Krumm (David Eccels), who attend a monster school under headmaster The Gromble (Gregg Berger). The point of the school is to teach the young monsters how to scare humans.

The show was a follow up to the very popular Nickelodeon show Rugrats. Gabor Csupo created Rugrats the network approached him to a follow up to it and he came up with a show based on monsters because his children really enjoyed that genre.

The show generally had good reviews, but the main argument against it was that it was too gross. Krumm did most of his scaring through his very foul body odor, which some people perceived as off putting, and Oblina scared people by pulling out her guts through her mouth.
