The 90s TV Shows

The Drew Carey Show

The Drew Carey Show is a sitcom that ran from 1995 to 2004 on the Warner Brothers network and was produced by Mohawk Productions.

The program follows the exploits of self-proclaimed “every man” Drew Carey as he works a dead-end, 9 to 5 office job, hanging out with his close friends after work. Carey is harassed by the clownish Mimi at the office and produces a home brewed beer with his buddies, called Buzz Beer, in the off hours.

Actor Drew Carey claims the show is exactly what his life would have been like had he not gotten into show business. The Drew Carey Show even features his home town of Cleveland, Ohio extensively.

The Drew Carey Show gained immense popularity after the fourth season before experiencing a sharp decline in viewership for seasons 8 and 9. The opening theme switched to the iconic “Cleveland Rocks” by the Presidents of the United States of America starting in 1997.

The show was also the first to perform an internet simulcast of an episode to improve viewership. Due to the tired nature of the show, the move didn’t work out quite as well as planned but was still a major landmark in television history.
