Mossimo is a mid-range American clothing company founded by Mossimo Giannulli in 1986. Mossimo is specializes in youth and teenagers fashion, mostly based on street, urban, and sport styles.
The brand began in 1986 when Giannulli began marketing exclusively to surf shops in the Newport Beach, CA area, and earned $1 million in its first year. By 1991, the company expanded to making sweaters and sweatshirts. By 1995, Mossimo’s collection included men’s tailored suits and women’s clothing as well.
In 2000, Mossimo came to an agreement with Target to exclusively sell their clothing line. The multi-product licensing agreement was because the company was losing some of its street credibility along with its profit margin.
