The 90s TV Shows

Eureekas Castle

Eureeka’s Castle is a children’s television series created by R.L. Stine. The series follows the day-to-day life of various puppet characters living in a wind-up music box castle owned by a giant. Eureeka, a young sorceress in training, is the star of the show. Some of the other inhabitants are Batly, a bat with poor sight and an ego to boot, Magellan, a dragon whose tail has a mind of its own, Bog and Quagmire, a pair of twins known as the “Moat Twins” who lived in the castle’s basement and ate tons of peanut butter, and various singing mice and fish. The mice live in a suit of armor known as “Sir Klank” and the fish often squirt water on the other inhabitants. Another inhabitant is Mr. Knack, a lovable foreign man who sold knick-knacks out of a shopping cart stand. The show originally aired on Nickelodeon from 1989 to 1995.
R.L Stine originally agreed to be part of the show because, despite popular belief, he thought of himself as a “funny writer”. Before he got into writing horror stories, he worked on a kid’s humor magazine called Bananas for ten years. The show was conceived as a non-educational Sesame Street. There were tons of physical gags and silly humor thrown in to appeal to little kids.
