The 90s TV Shows

Mr. Bean

My. Bean is a British comedy television series that began on January 1, 1990 and saw its final episode air on October 31, 1995.

Mr. Bean is a character developed by Rowan Atkinson while he was studying at Oxford University. He was also played by Atkinson, who described Mr. Bean as a child in a grown man’s body. The series followed him trying to complete every day tasks, but usually having to overcome some sort of problem.

The character rarely spoke and would rely mostly on physical comedy. The humor usually came from his interactions with other people as well as the unusual way he solved his problems. Mr. Bean was really the only significant character in the show, but his girlfriend, Irma Gobb (Matilda Ziegler), did have a reoccurring role.

The show had such a great following that it induced a few spinoffs. These include a cartoon series, which Atkinson starred as Mr. Bean again, as well as two feature films: Bean and Mr. Bean’s Holiday. The cartoon actually spawned a video game as well.

This character has propelled Atkinson to a very accomplished acting career, acting in over 50 television and movie productions including The Lion King and Never Say Never Again.
