Star Fox

Star Fox is a video game first released by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo console in 1993.

Star Fox is a rail-shooter game seen in third-person and first-person 3D perspective, which would also become Nintendo’s first 3D release. The game features anthropomorphic character races such as foxes, frogs, bird, rabbits, dogs, apes, and so forth. The game’s storyline saw the player command Fox McCloud, along with his Star Fox Team, and battle the villainous Andross to defend their homeland of Corneia.

Gameplay consisted of guiding a spacecraft through various environments while fighting off other spaceships, robots, and creatures. Along the way, players could find power-ups to assist them as well as other members of the team and wingmen. The end of a level would see the player do battle against a boss.

Upon it’s release, Star Fox was named the best shooter of the year by Electronic Gaming Monthly and now has been credited as one of the most popular franchises in the gaming industry. The game also helped pioneer 3D video game graphics for future generations.

Through the years, Star Fox has gone on to spawn sequels for Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, and and Nintendo Wii.
