Thelma

Thelma is a character from the popular adventure film Thelma & Louise. The film was released in 1991, starring Geena Davis as Thelma and Susan Sarandon and Louise. Thelma is described as the passive housewife, while Louise is more stern and strong. The duo takes out Louise’s Ford Thunderbird for a weekend vacation in the mountains.

On their way to the mountain, things take a turn for the worst when they stop at a bar. Thelma meets a guy at the bar, Harlan, who tries to take advantage of her and attempts to rape her. Louise comes to her rescue and stops it by threatening him with a gun. Louise ends up firing the gun and killing Harlan.

Rather than going to the police, they are afraid no one will believe what happened, so they decide to run away. They decide to escape to Mexico. On the way from Oklahoma to Mexico, they pick-up a hitchhiker named J.D. Soon they find out that he is a thief, and ended up stealing all of their money. With no money, Thelma decides to hold up a convenience store.

Their journey continues, with each decision getting them in more trouble with the law. Finally, they are cornered by the police near the Grand Canyon and their journey comes to an end. The film was well received by both fans and critics. The film was a huge success, and received six Academy Award Nominations. Thelma & Louise grossed over $45 million.
