The Parent Trap

The Parent Trap that was released in 1998, was a remake of the movie that was  made in 1961.  The movie was directed by Nancy Meyers and starred Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson, and Lindsay Lohan.  Lindsay Lohan played the twins, Hallie Parker and Annie James, daughters of Nick Parker and Elizabeth James.

When Nick and Elizabeth divorced, they decided they would each take one daughter, who were still infants.  Nick and Hallie went to start a winery in Napa Valley and Elizabeth became a wedding dress designer in London with Annie.  Eleven years later, the two sisters were sent to the same summer camp.  They ended up meeting at the camp after an intense fencing match.  Once the match ended, they realized they looked alike and this did not sit well with them.  This resulted in a prank war erupting, eventually ending with them being sent to an isolated cabin.  This is where they find out they are actually twin sisters.

They decide that they are going to switch places so that they can each meet their other parent and hopefully bring the family back together.  Problems arise when they find out their father is engaged.  Eventually, the parents find out that they switched places at the camp.  However, before they leave they want to go on the annual camping trip together, with the hopes of breaking up Nick and his fiancée.  The plan worked and the fiancée’s real personality showed, forcing Nick to break up with her.

In the end, Nick and Hallie Parker, go to London to bring the family back together.  The Parent Trap was well received by both fans and critics, grossing over $92 million worldwide.
